Introduction
Finding accommodation in the private sector can be very frustrating and overwhelming. If you are a student looking for that ideal property we are the people that you need to talk to. As our name suggests we specialise in student lettings, and as such we are going to endeavour to satisfy all your housing requirements.
Whether you’re a group of first years looking for a seven bedroom property or a post graduate looking for a quality one bedroom flat, available now or in July we have properties to suit your requirements.
Southampton Student Lettings are here to help and advise you throughout the administrative process to get you into your new home. To help the process run smoothly, this Student Accommodation Information should outline everything you need to know about arranging your tenancy, but if you have any questions feel free to contact us either by phone or e-mail.
Your Group
You will need to decide how many people are in your group before you start looking at potential properties. Once you have decided on a home for the next year and signed the agreement, you are all jointly liable for the rental payments. Pick friends you can depend on as the monthly rent is for the whole house and not per room.
Reserving the Property
Once you decide on your house you can secure the property with a non returnable holding deposit. This deposit will be deducted from the eventual house deposit. Students do not pay any fees when taking a property with Southampton Student Lettings.
Credit References and Guarantors
We will need a bank reference and a parental guarantor for all tenants.
The guarantor will be liable for rental payments if you are unable to pay them, so they will need to have a regular income.
Your Tenancy
Most tenancies will run from the 1st July to the 30th June (12 months). When all references have been successfully completed, a Tenancy Agreement will be drawn up, to be signed by all Tenants.
Collecting your keys
Keys will be issued after 3pm on your move in date.
Maintenance
We have a full time maintenance team who work Monday – Friday between 8 and 4pm.
